What is required to become a webcam model?​

A: Getting started with Novella is simple, and you don’t need much to begin. Here’s what you’ll need:

• Age requirement – You must be 18 or over.

• Valid ID – Such as a passport or driving licence, to verify your age and identity.

• Device – A smartphone, tablet, iPad, or laptop to go live.

• Reliable Wi-Fi – A stable internet connection to keep your streams smooth.

Q: Can I join Novella if I’m not based in the UK?

A: Absolutely! Novella proudly welcomes models from all over the world. We have an international group so that anyone, no matter where they’re based, can take advantage of our amazing benefits and support.

Being part of the international group doesn’t change your experience in any way - it’s simply how the host platform organises models. You’ll still have the same opportunities, support, and guidance as everyone else in the community.

 

Q: Is there a sign-up fee?

A: We have personally experienced agencies that advertise as “low fee,” only for models to find over 50% of their earnings taken once they join. That’s why at Novella, we’re completely open about our commission structure.

We take a fixed rate of just 10% of your earnings, while the host website takes a 30% fee - bringing the total deduction to 40%. This is significantly lower than most agencies, which often take between 15–25% on top of the host site’s fees.

You can also take more responsibility within the business and reduce your rates down to just 2.5%.

Q: Do I have to do sexual content to earn well?

A: Absolutely not! Most of the time, the best earnings come from genuine conversation and connection with clients. While webcam work can include a sexual element, it’s entirely up to you how far you take it - your boundaries always come first.

Q: Am I required to do anything specific on cam?

A: At Novella, you’re the one in the driver’s sea, there are no rules about what you have to do and you’ll never be pressured to step outside your comfort zone. Your boundaries, your choice, your power.

Some models love offering fully explicit shows, others focus on genuine companionship and friendships, and many find a mix that works perfectly for them. Whatever style feels right, there’s a welcoming audience waiting for you - and we’re here to support you every step of the way!

 

Q: Can I stay anonymous while camming?

A: Absolutely! Many Novella models choose to remain anonymous!

Being anonymous does not affect your earning potential, so there’s no need to worry. It’s simple to get started: choose an alias, use faceless photos and we create a persona with you!

When it comes to live camming, there are a few extra considerations models sometimes worry about - like covering tattoos - but don’t stress. Even if you think a design is unique, it’s very unlikely anyone will recognize it. With a little preparation, you can enjoy all the benefits of camming while keeping your identity completely private.

 

Q: How much can I earn camming?

A: Your earnings depend on the time and effort you put in - Webcam really is a “you get out what you put in” business. Models tend to start at £1.80/min for group sessions and £2.30/min for private, depending on experience, however, you have full control over the rates you charge and can change them as you see fit!

Here at Novella we encourage passive income through the use of messaging, content sales and item sales – less time online, more time having fun!

Clients can also tip, so extra income is always possible. Some models make 500 – 1,000 credits per week, while others prefer a steadier, smaller income with less screen time and both are perfectly fine. It’s all about what works for you!

 

Q: Do I have to pay tax?

A: Yes - any income you earn from camming is considered self-employed income, and it’s your responsibility to declare it to HMRC. We strongly recommend that all our models operate completely “above board” and handle their earnings by the books.

As with any form of income, you are legally required to declare your earnings and pay any applicable taxes. While we’re here to support and guide you in your journey, Novella cannot take responsibility for any consequences if earnings are not declared. Staying compliant ensures your success is safe, secure, and stress-free.
